• Mobile communication play. Play: great rates for unlimited calls from Poland to Ukraine

    Not so long ago, new anti-terrorist legislation was adopted in Poland. Among other things, the new rules established the mandatory registration of SIM cards purchased from operators for a specific person. Now it is impossible to purchase and activate the starter kit of any operator without providing information about the owner.

    The law also applies to previously purchased numbers. All of them must be registered or mobile operators in Poland will block their service.

    How to activate a Polish SIM card?

    There is nothing complicated in the registration process. It can be carried out at almost any point of sale or office of a mobile operator.

    For this, an identity card is enough. Foreigners will do, or.

    Please note that some Polish mobile operators require not only personal data for activation, but also dialing a specific number or topping up the account. This information must be present on the packaging of the starter kit.

    What are the Polish telecom operators?

    There are a fairly large number of mobile operators on the Polish market. Each of them has its own characteristics. Let's consider the main ones:

    • T-Mobile and Heyah;
    • play;
    • plus;

    Many mobile operators in Poland have already been discussed in detail and will be mentioned here briefly. Some require more detailed explanation. However, before finding out what tariffs Polish mobile operators have, let's consider some features of the work of Polish operators, which may seem unusual to a foreigner.

    Refill

    First of all, the account replenishment system is somewhat different from the usual one in the CIS countries. Of course, you can top up your account at sales offices, with a bank card via the Internet, etc., but more often people use terminals located in most stores. Therein lies the difference: in exchange for the funds provided, the buyer will receive a check with a unique number. Activating this code will lead to the crediting of funds. Otherwise, the money will not be credited to the account.

    This technology also applies to small shops, where it is not the buyer who will deposit money into the terminal, but the seller working there. In any case, there will be a check with a number on hand that needs to be activated.

    This is a requirement of most operators in Poland. However, most are not all!

    The following information does not apply to the Lycamobile network.

    Many providers require mandatory pre-replenishment of the account in an amount not lower than the monthly cost of the selected tariff. Simply put, if the package provides for payment of 25 ZŁ per month, then the money must be in the account by the time of payment.

    Otherwise, outgoing calls and SMS services will be unavailable, the balance will be canceled in a week, and the SIM card will be blocked in a month. Reactivating it may not be possible or may incur additional costs.

    Depending on the operator and the selected services, the required amount may vary.

    Auto-renewal of services

    Another feature is services with auto-renewal from some operators. That is, when purchasing such a package, for example, for a month, after this period, the required amount will be automatically withdrawn for the next period.

    In addition to the fact that the funds must be in the account, there is another feature - You can cancel auto-renewal no later than 2 days before the payment deadline. Some services can be completely disabled only when visiting the office in person.

    Mobile operators in Poland: their tariffs and offers

    When choosing an operator for calls to Ukraine or Belarus, it is necessary to pay attention to those services that will be needed most often.

    The review article will not provide all the available mobile phone tariffs in Poland, so do not forget to follow the links to the descriptions of specific services to clarify the choice.

    Famous German operator. It is presented on the Polish market under the Heyah brand, which we talked about in detail, and under its own name T-Mobile.

    The tariffs of Polish operators are largely similar, although there are significant differences.

    For example, under the T-Mobile brand, the following packages are offered:

    For a day:

    • cost – 1 ZŁ per day;
    • Internet traffic - 300 Mb.

    For a month:

    • cost – 25 ZŁ per month;
    • calls (within Poland) - without limitation;
    • SMS (within Poland) - without limitation;
    • Internet traffic - 10 GB.

    If there is not enough traffic, it is possible to purchase additional packages:

    Volume Price, ZŁ Activation code Note
    300 MB 0,5 *140*296*3# Until the end of the day
    1 GB 1 *140*296*4# Until the end of the day
    1 GB 5 *140*265*3# Until the end of the month
    3 GB 9 *140*265*4# Until the end of the month
    5 GB 12 *140*265*5# Until the end of the month

    French operator popular in Europe.

    All of its tariffs and packages have already been reviewed in detail.

    Let us briefly recall that within Poland the operator is quite competitive, and its roaming within the EU is of particular interest.

    play

    Its main advantages- profitable conversations within the EU and some other countries, special offers for Russia and Ukraine, as well as the absence of account blocking and debiting of funds when the account reaches zero.

    Codes of mobile operators in Poland

    Next, the codes of Polish mobile operators will be provided, but it should be remembered that any user can switch to any operator while retaining the previously purchased number of mobile operators in Poland (by the way, many providers offer good bonuses for this):

    The codes of Polish mobile operators are given in the table on Wikipedia.

    Which mobile operator is the most profitable in Poland?

    To make it easier to choose a suitable provider, we compare the prices of different operators. You just need to understand that the tariffs for each may differ in the cost of a minute (SMS, Mb), therefore for example, the most common tariffs are taken. All prices are in PLN.

    After reviewing the table, you can find out which mobile connection in Poland is the cheapest. Heyah is a profitable mobile operator in Poland for calls within the territory of the Republic of Poland. But it is up to you to decide which operator to choose.

    Mobile operators in Poland

    The Polish mobile communications market consists of 4 large operators, each of which in turn has so-called "virtual operators", of which there are even more.

    Upon arrival in Poland, you can purchase a starter package in small shops and popular Ruch kiosks, as well as in mobile phone stores. Here, however, you need to be careful: Poles often visit mobile phone shops even for nothing, so get ready for the fact that, most likely, you will have to take a number there and wait in line.

    The so-called "big 4" in Poland is commonly referred to by companies: Play, Orange, T-Mobile, and Plus.

    How to conclude an agreement with the operator

    Pay attention to the fact that until recently in Poland the most popular option was to conclude a contract with an operator for a period of one or two years, or MIX (something between a contract and a pre-paid option). If you currently reside in Poland on the basis of a visa, then both of these options may not be available to you yet. At the same time, there may be some restrictions for people with, depending on the network.

    Differences between major operators

    Due to the high competition in the market, the choice of an operator is more of a decision based on personal preference, brand awareness and love for a particular brand. If you need to maintain frequent contacts with relatives and friends in Ukraine, Russia or Belarus, then you need to additionally study tariffs for international calls. In this case, the packages of the most popular operators may not be beneficial for you.

    Another important point is the possibility high-speed Internet connections LTE 4G, which is present in all major cities of Poland, so you can surf the Internet without any problems.

    Each of the Polish mobile operators over the past couple of years has concluded an agreement with one of the music services such as Deezer, Tidal or Spotify. These sites are very popular in Poland, and often operators do not require payment for Internet traffic that is spent on downloading and listening to music through these services.

    In other words, the megabytes of Internet that are spent on the site of a music service partner of a mobile operator or application become free for users of the packages of this operator and do not require additional payment.

    So, go to classic, which in Russian is usually called in the English manner - "pre-paid", and in Poland - "na kartę", and consider the offers and tariffs of the first operator.

    Mobile operator PLAY

    PLAY is one of the most popular mobile operators among young people and the newest on the market. As of 2016, the standard price tag (the so-called "formuła w Play" is as follows:

    1 SMS to all networks - 0.09 zł
    Internet - 0.02 zł / 100 kB

    That is, it is at such standard prices that you will use the operator's service package as soon as you buy the starter package and activate the "formula" in PLAY. For obvious reasons using a standard price tag is unprofitable and you will spend a lot of money on calls and SMS messages.

    PLAY provides that after activating the formula, you select one of its options, which are offered by the operator:

    T-mobile also has a virtual mobile operator Heyah, which is known for its discounts on calls to Ukraine. Recently, they have risen in price and Heyah has ceased to be a universal operator for Ukrainian students. Although he still had a number of interesting proposals.

    For example, there is even a Ukrainian version of the site, which explains how you can call a few selected numbers in Ukraine for 0.35 zł/minute and it's only 9 zł per month. If you plan to make frequent calls to Ukraine, we recommend that you pay attention to this virtual operator.

    Mobile operator Orange

    Orange has until recently been the most popular operator among young people and often rewards its users for their trust and commitment to their brand. For example, it could be movie tickets for 12 zł (a regular ticket costs about 30-33 zł) and discounts on tickets to the popular Orange Warsaw Festival.

    However, in recent years, Orange has been producing practically no bright advertising campaigns, and therefore the offers of competitors today look much more interesting. Nevertheless, for a person who does not want to understand in different sentences and complex "formulas", a variant Orange may seem like the best solution, since it is very similar to the standard offers of mobile operators from Ukraine or Belarus.

    The standard cost of services is as follows:

    1 minute of calls to all networks - 0.29 zł
    1 SMS to all networks - 0.15 zł
    Internet - 0.12 zł / 100 kB

    In addition to the standard offer, Orange offers a range of attractive monthly packages, such as free SMS and calls between subscriptions within the network for PLN 2.90. Cheap, but you need to remember about the timely replenishment of the account. If most of your acquaintances have numbers in Orange, then this may be a good solution. A package of free calls and SMS to all numbers in all networks will cost you 30 zł/month.

    Mobile Operator Plus

    The last operator from the so-called "main four". Last year started a series of successful advertising campaign with the participation of the Polish national volleyball team. For those who may not know: volleyball is very popular in Poland, so the whole country often follows the progress of the national team.

    So, as with other operators, you purchase the starter package of this operator for 5 zł, after which you call at the standard price tag:

    1 minute of calls to all networks - 0.29 zł
    1 SMS to all networks - 0.19 zł
    Internet - 0.19 zł / 100 kB

    10 PLN per month - free SMS to all numbers
    25 PLN per month - free calls to all numbers
    30 PLN per month - free calls and SMS to everyone
    35 PLN per month - calls and SMS to everyone free of charge + 3 gb LTE 4G internet.

    Summing up and comparing mobile Internet

    Those who plan to frequently use LTE 4G Internet should consider additional Internet packages:

    1) Play - additional 3GB can be ordered for 9zl;
    2) T-mobile - optional 1GB will cost you 10zl;
    3) Orange - for 2GB per month you pay 12zl;
    4) Plus - the cost of the service will be one of the highest on the market - 1GB it's worth it here 15 zł.

    Summing up, we can say that if you intend use Internet LTE 4G, and most of your acquaintances are young people in big cities, then the most the best option for you would be to use Play tariffs(even in the standard price list, the offer is the most profitable - only 0.02zł per 100kb), if the Internet is not so important, then T-mobile or Orange.

    The pre-paid Plus offer is currently the most expensive, so unless you sign an individual agreement with the green network, the Plus offer is not worth it for you.

    Dear readers of our blog, I would like to first of all note that this article was not written for advertising purposes. We tried to make real overview of the market of mobile operators as of March 2016.

    At the same time, we understand that you may have your own experience of using the services of each of the mobile operators, and our recommendations are just friendly advice and support for those who have not yet had time to delve into most of the subtleties.

    We hope that after reading our article you will find the most convenient solution for you.

    At the end of last year, we published a large . We considered what they are, what types of services they offer, where to buy SIM-cards, how to replenish them, and so on. In the second part, they promised to write about each “opsos” separately, which we will do now.

    Let's start with classic (not "virtual") large companies. By the way, they share the market between themselves approximately equally.

    A telecom operator originally from Germany, operating in many European countries, as well as in the USA. In Poland, it has decent coverage even in sparsely populated areas.

    Starter pack

    Until recently, the operator offered several different "Na kartę" packages. Now the choice has been greatly simplified. Just buy a "starter SIM card" for PLN 5 and choose one of the offered unlimited tariffs (unlimited calls and SMS to any Polish numbers, the account is active for a whole year). If you come across one of the old starters in the store, then the new “super tariffs” can also be activated on them.

    The first tariff will cost PLN 25 per month and includes a 10 GB internet package. The second is for 1 PLN per day with a traffic package of 300 MB per day. If you need more internet, you can buy additional packages (on the left for a monthly plan, on the right for a daily plan):

    Contracts

    T-Mobile offers 2-year contracts like MIX (we talked about what it is) with the ability to buy a phone cheaper. Now 3 options are available - for 25, 35 and 50 zlotys per month (but keep in mind - after the first year, the amounts double).

    Here we note that we will not describe and compare the cost of calls abroad for different operators in this article. For all operators, such information is hidden in some kind of PDF files, which, in turn, are tucked somewhere in the bowels of sites. There are often no special offers and tariff options on this topic. But in general, for the "big four" operators, calls to the CIS countries will cost about 1-2 zlotys per minute, SMS abroad - from 50 groszy to 1 zloty. Better call online. "Virtuals" are cheaper, but we'll talk about them in the third article of the cycle.

    French telecommunications company operating in 23 countries.

    Starters

    There are only two of them. Orange Free on the map gives you access to the Free plan. There are several options for this tariff, at the moment there is a package for 9 PLN with 1 GB of traffic included.

    The peculiarity of the tariff is the Internet as a gift with each replenishment of the account. The size of the package and its validity period depend on the amount added.

    Also, do not forget to activate free messages and calls within the network, this is done by the code *110*47#.

    If you need to buy additional traffic, then the tariffs are as follows:

    The second version of the starter package is . It costs PLN 5 and includes 1 GB of internet. Interestingly, there is no “ready” number, you can choose the appropriate one (instructions on the package) by indicating five of your favorite numbers. Also, as in the previous version, you can connect unlimited within the network (free of charge), unlimited to any numbers (for a fee) and various Internet packages.

    If you want to change the Yes tariff to Free, send an SMS "FREE" to 3033 or dial the code 101*40#.

    Important - Orange has a "topic" with the validity of payments, but recently it was actually canceled. In order for your account to be active for a year, you need to send "START" to number 8002, it will cost you 3 PLN.

    Contracts

    Orange has four of them, all 2-year-olds. You can see the prices and conditions in the screenshot, we will not go into details (the only thing is that the traffic package “loses weight” twice after 3 months). Again, there are enough phones in the offer, including the latest expensive models.

    Orange balance can be checked by *124*# code. Find out the rest of the traffic package - *101*01#. Replenishment of the account with a voucher (bought in a supermarket, for example) - * 125 * #. Replenishment from the site - doladowania.orange.pl. Mobile applications for phones are available, information about them on this page.

    3. Play

    This time we will talk about the Polish, not the international operator. It is considered more affordable in terms of prices than other "mastodons". And its market share is still relatively small. But the tariffs, let's say there, are "dumping". Play is famous for its inexpensive and fast internet, and the majority of Polish virtual operators operate on the network.

    Play still has poor network coverage, especially between cities, but the company has agreements with other telecom operators and in the absence of a connection, your phone will automatically switch to roaming (at no extra charge).

    Play has, perhaps, the widest selection of tariffs and options, it is not surprising for a beginner to get confused.

    Starter packs

    Standard starters cost 5 PLN and are called “Play na Kartę”. The simplest package gives you the opportunity to activate free calls and SMS within the network with the code *163*6#. Other rates, including internet packages, are described. Keep in mind that there are expiration dates for payments.

    A more interesting package is “Play na Kartę Lubię to!”. To start you are offered 250 MB of internet for 10 days (activate with code *163*7#). At the end of the traffic, the access speed is reduced to 32 kbps. You can add internet package (available ). In addition, the tariff has bonuses in the form of traffic for replenishing the account.

    For those who do not want to toil about the validity of payments, there is a starter “Play na Kartę Rok Ważności Konta”, it will be active for a year after the first replenishment of the account in the amount of 5 PLN. And there are no more chips.

    There are also three FORMUŁA starter packs Play. The first one is FORMUŁA UNLIMITED. This is the principle already familiar to us from the description above, when once every certain number of days the account must be replenished by a certain amount. In return, you get a traffic package and free calls and SMS to any number.

    A package for 7 days costs PLN 9 and includes 500 MB of internet, activated with the code *111*406*1#. The package for 30 days includes a hell of 6 GB of traffic and costs PLN 25 (to activate, top up your account and dial *111*407*1#). Keep in mind that the tariffs have already familiar payment terms.

    The starter includes 1 GB of internet and free SMS to subscribers of any networks. It is possible to “try” the tariff by including it for free for 7 days (code *111*400*1#). Then it will cost you PLN 14 per month.

    You can also purchase separately unlimited options:

    Internet for a day costs 5 PLN, 10 GB of traffic is included, then the speed is reduced to a more or less acceptable 1 MB / s. Internet for a week - PLN 20 (30 GB at maximum speed). Unlimited for a month - PLN 40 (100 GB before speed cuts).

    Another starter is “25 GB on start”, no expiration dates! You get 25 GB (a SIM card costs PLN 50) and you can use them for a whole year. Otherwise, the same conditions as described above.

    And the last, rather “tasty” option is a free starter. Yes, yes, it will cost 0 PLN. True, you will not find this in supermarkets, you need to look in Play stores. This is a trial SIM card for a connection speed test with 500 MB of traffic included for 3 days. And then, if you wish, you can buy the above-described “unlimited” packages and replenish your account, receiving bonuses.

    Contracts

    Let's move on to contracts. Play has MIX series offers for 2 years. Formuła MIX includes payments of PLN 30, 40 or 50 (basic rates S, M, L, although there are also PLN 20). The second option is MIX Elastyczny (S, M, L to choose from), in the first year you pay the same PLN 30, 40 or 50 per month, then payments will double. But if the contract is extended for another year, the prices will remain the same. What is the difference? And the fact is that in the second case the phone will be bought at a lower cost.

    All offers include unlimited calls within the network and SMS to any phones, a certain number of minutes to other numbers and traffic packages. A novelty is “unlimited” Internet (the speed is “cut” after 10 GB), depending on the cost of the tariff, you will be given it for 1, 3 or 6 months.

    There is another option MIX bez telefonu - for those who do not need to buy a phone, but the tariffs are the same there, so there is no benefit.

    In terms of standard contracts (subscriptions), Play also has the widest choice. There are SOLO, DUET and RODZINA options - for one person, two or a family. The contract can be signed for 1 or 2 years. The options are the same - S, M, L (with a 2-year contract - PLN 30, 45, 55, but with a phone a little more expensive) with a different amount of included options. All tariffs, except for S, offer unlimited calls and SMS to any number, the most expensive subscription also has unlimited Internet (10 GB included, after which the speed drops to 1 Mb / s).

    Here is such a diverse Play, I hope you are not confused. To check your Play account balance dial *101#. Checking the rest of the Internet package - *111*55*5#. Link to replenish the number - doladowania.play.pl. There are also mobile apps for easy account and service management.

    4. Plus

    The fourth largest "real" telecom operator in Poland. And also a local company with more or less affordable prices.

    Starter packs

    Two types of starters “JA na Kartę” and “JA Internet na Kartę” are available for sale.

    It costs the standard 5 PLN and offers two tariffs. The first is with unlimited calls and SMS to mobile numbers. If you top up your account with PLN 25 every 30 days, you will also receive 500 MB of traffic. If you top up with PLN 29, then the internet package will be 6 GB + unlimited SMS + free access to Facebook.

    7-day “packages” are also available:

    The second tariff offers unlimited calls to any (mobile + landline) numbers, the choice of packages is less.

    Traffic is not included here, and the specified “mini internet” only means that at the end of the package you will have access to the network at the very minimum speed. BUT, note: you can use completely free LTE-traffic (LTE only!), activate the service with the code *101*11*24#, details .

    Eat promo for test services Plus— in the first 15 days after buying a starter, top up your account with at least 30 PLN and you will receive free calls and SMS, as well as 3 GB of internet for 5 days.

    The following Internet packages are available separately for “JA na Kartę”:

    Plus has expiration dates for payments. To forget about them for a year, for 10 PLN you can activate the service “ Rok ważności Konta” (code *136*11*18#). After turning it on, you need to top up your account with at least PLN 5 within 30 days.

    Now about starters “JA Internet na kartę”. Two options are available for 5 and 15 zł. The packages say loudly about 5 and 15 GB. But in fact, this is marketing, since initially with the package you get 500 MB for 7 days or 3 GB for 14 days. And with each replenishment of your account in the amount of at least PLN 20, you will receive 1 GB of traffic. 5 times in the case of a “starter” for 5 PLN and 12 times in the case of a more expensive starter. That's where the big numbers come from.

    Here is a table with prices for traffic packages. As you can see, bonuses are given for replenishing large amounts, and if you deposit more than PLN 150 into your account, you can forget about the validity period of payments for a year.

    “JA Internet na kartę” also has a curious night internet option. It costs only 10 PLN, it is activated by the code *121*11*03#. You will receive 200 GB of traffic for 30 days, which can only be used from 1 am to 8 am local time.

    The balance in Plus is checked by the code *121#. Find out the rest of the traffic - *121# *136#. Replenishment of the account with the voucher code - *123*telekod#. Replenishment from the site -. Plus apps for smartphones are available.

    Contracts

    First, let's take a look at MIX type contracts from Plus. They are 2 years old. Like Play, there are “elastic” and “standard” options. In the first case, from the second year, the monthly payment doubles, but it can be left at the same level by extending the contract.

    As you can see, subscriptions are not particularly profitable, minutes are included only to mobile numbers, unlimited SMS costs PLN 10, and the traffic package in the most expensive tariff is only 4 GB.

    Without buying a phone, the following options are available:

    Standard postpaid rates are more interesting. Calls to any numbers and SMS are unlimited, except for the cheapest subscription, where you have to pay for messages and calls to landlines. Traffic packages are good (2-5-10 GB). Traditionally, regular and elastic options are available.

    about virtual telecom operators in Poland.

    Many citizens of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus have to visit Poland. The reasons for this are different: business trips, tourism, trips to friends. For a comfortable stay in this country, you will need to use mobile communications. But calling from your SIM card will be expensive. It is much more profitable to purchase a SIM card from one of the local operators. To do this, you need to know what mobile communications are like in Poland: operators, tariffs and other information.

    Mobile operators in Poland

    In order not to waste time in Poland, it is advisable to decide on the choice of operator before the trip. Decide why you need a Polish SIM card the most - for calls, the Internet? Consider which mobile operators in Poland are currently operating.

    The main mobile operators in Poland:

    • T Mobile;
    • orange;
    • Lycamobile;
    • play;
    • Plus.

    T-Mobile is a major German operator that is represented in many countries, including Poland. Orange is also a popular international operator headquartered in France. The British Lucamobile is widely represented in the country. And Plus and Play are Polish operators. It is also worth recalling that the phone prefix in Poland is +48.

    Buying and registering a SIM card

    Important! In February 2017, the Polish government approved mandatory registration when purchasing SIM cards. That is, to purchase a starter pack, you will need an identity card.

    Thus, each SIM card is assigned to a specific person. The same rules apply when purchasing a number. All unregistered Polish phone numbers of mobile operators are blocked.

    Registering a SIM card is not a complicated procedure. This can be done at the office or sales point of the mobile operator. For registration, a foreigner will need a passport, a residence card or a Pole's card. Some Polish mobile operators require you to top up your balance or dial a specific number to activate a number. Information about this should be indicated on the starter pack.

    Rates

    How to determine which SIM card is better to buy? To answer this question, consider the tariffs of various operators.

    play

    It is not difficult to find a SIM card of this operator - there are Play offices in almost all shopping centers. You can also buy a Play SIM card at any newsstand, for example, Rush. The starter pack costs from 5 to 9 zł.

    As for the Play tariffs, the most favorable ones for foreign citizens are: Play na Karte (Standart), Play na Karte Lubie to and Formula Play na Karte. In the Play na Karte (Standart) tariff plan, calls within the network are free. The cost of a minute of conversation when calling numbers of other operators costs PLN 0.29, SMS - PLN 0.09, 100 kilobytes of Internet - PLN 0.12. If necessary, you can connect additional megabytes or minutes.

    To activate this tariff plan, you must enter the combination *163*6#. If you need to use the mobile Internet frequently, it is more profitable to connect monthly packages. So 600 megabytes of internet costs PLN 5, 2 GB - PLN 9, 6 GB - PLN 20.

    In the Play na Karte Lubie to tariff plan, communication within the network is paid. Its advantage is bonuses in the form of megabytes of Internet, accrued for each account replenishment. For replenishment of the account in the amount of 5 to 9 PLN, an additional 50 MB of Internet are charged, from 10 to 24 PLN - 200 MB, from 25 to 49 - 500 MB, from 50 to 99 - 1.5 GB and from 100 to 300 - 3, 5 GB. To activate this tariff plan, you must enter the combination *163*7#.

    The subscription fee in the Formula Play na Karte tariff plan provides certain services (SMS, minutes to other operators, Internet). Each recharge automatically extends these services by 50 days.

    For Ukrainian citizens, Play has provided a special tariff plan. A minute of conversation to Ukraine costs only PLN 0.29. To activate this tariff plan, you must enter the combination *111*201*1#. This tariff plan provides for the possibility of connecting mobile Internet.

    Important! These conditions apply only when calling to numbers of Kyivstar, Vodafone and Lifecell subscribers.

    T Mobile

    This well-known German mobile operator is also represented in Poland under the Heyah brand. T-Mobile offers packages for a day or a month. The daily package costs PLN 1. Calls and SMS within the country are not limited. This also includes 300 MB of internet.

    A monthly package costs PLN 25. This package provides calls and SMS within the network - without restrictions. It also includes 10 GB of internet. If these 10 GB are not enough, you can purchase additional traffic:

    • 300 MB (cost - PLN 0.5, valid until the end of the day);
    • 1 GB (1, until the end of the day);
    • 1 GB (5, until the end of the month);
    • 3 GB (9, until the end of the month);
    • 5 GB (12, until the end of the month).

    Orange

    Some Orange tariff plans are more profitable to use for calls, others - for using the Internet. In Free na Karte, Orange Yes and Orange Smart tariff plans, a minute of conversation costs PLN 0.29. 100 MB of internet in Free na Karte and Orange Smart costs PLN 0.01, in Orange Yes - PLN 0.12. But Orange Yes has the cheapest SMS and MMS. Free na Karte and Orange Smart tariffs provide additional traffic for account replenishment.

    Plus

    This Polish operator has several tariff plans. But the prices for services are approximately the following:

    • calls and SMS within the network - free of charge;
    • messages to numbers of other operators - 19 groszy;
    • a minute of conversation with subscribers of other operators - 30 groszy;
    • SMS abroad - 60 groszy;
    • a minute of conversation with subscribers of foreign operators - PLN 2.

    However, Plus is attractive primarily due to the conditions of mobile Internet services. This operator provides the highest quality 4G Internet in the country. In addition, the prices for Internet services are the most favorable here. 300 MB cost PLN 5, 500 MB cost PLN 7, and 1 GB cost PLN 10.

    Plus has tariffs that provide for the accrual of bonus traffic. Those who use the Internet mainly at night will be interested in the following tariff plan. 200 GB of internet are provided here, which are valid from 1:00 to 7:00. This service costs PLN 10.

    Lucamobile

    From Lucamobile numbers it is advantageous to call to EU countries. If there is no money on the account, the number will not be blocked. There are advantageous offers for calls to Russia and Ukraine. For example, L, XL, XXL, XXXL tariff plans provide additional minutes for calls to Ukraine:

    • L - 30;
    • XL - 50;
    • XXL, XXXL - 100.

    Services

    In Poland, the procedure for replenishing the balance is somewhat different from a similar operation in Russia, Belarus and Ukraine. Basically, terminals are used here to replenish the account. A certain amount is deposited into the terminal. But this amount is not immediately credited to the account. The terminal issues a check with a code. This code must be activated in order to receive funds. You can also replenish your account using a bank card or via the Internet.

    Polish mobile operators (except Lucamobile) require that the corresponding amount be on the account when charging a subscription fee. For example, if the subscription fee is PLN 25, the account must have at least PLN 25 at the time of withdrawal. If the amount is insufficient, calls and messages will not be available. After a week, the balance will be canceled. If the amount is not credited to the account, in a month the SIM card will be blocked. To reactivate it, you will have to pay a decent amount.

    Polish mobile operators have another interesting feature - auto-renewal of services. For example, you have purchased a service for a period of a month. After a month, this service will be automatically renewed. To prevent this from happening, you need to refuse auto-renewal, but no later than 2 days before the expiration of the service.

    Which operator is more profitable

    In order to determine which SIM card of which operator is better to purchase, let's compare the prices of the most common tariffs of all providers.

    Subscription fee in PLN Cost of a minute of conversation (in Poland) SMS cost (in Poland) Internet
    T Mobile 25 per month no limit no limit 10 GB
    Heyah 0.28 per day no limit

    Play, owned by P4, was the smallest of the 4 network operators in Poland. But with their aggressive pricing, it moved to number two in 2016/7.

    By the end of 2013, it covered 80% of the population in 3G/UMTS on 900 and 2100 MHz, which is misleading and still called "4G". But real 4G on LTE 800, 1800, 2100 and 2600 MHz is available to 92% of the population since 2017: Play coverage map (follow the link, it shows "4G/LTE", combined UMTS and LTE! Bright purple 3G/HSPA+ area, dark purple 4G/LTE).

    Play has about 5,000 own towers in the country, which is much less than the other 3 operators. Many Play subscribers have free access to all Polish 2G/3G networks, but other networks do not have 4G/LTE, and the data transfer rate in 3G roaming is limited to 3 Mbps for download and 1 Mbps for upload. As a result, almost every tower (for any network) actually allows Play users to connect without additional fees for GSM and 3G internet. But the reduced Play Internet na Kartę plan remains excluded from roaming and on the more limited Play own network. Their own coverage is 8-20% lower than other providers.

    Play has one of the most confusing SIM card portfolios in Europe. They have different rate lines with different add-ons and default rates. As a rule, all tariff lines can be switched, but not to/from the cheapest tariff called Play Internet na Kartę. Their website in English contains a description of some of the prepaid plans as well as instructions for choosing a plan, but does not contain essential information about the "Internet na karte" offer or how to cancel the package, which is only available in Polish or here.

    Buy SIM card Play

    Their SIM card can be purchased at kiosks, gas stations and other outlets: Play Stores. If you want to be sure that the SIM card will be registered at the point of sale at the time of purchase, visit the Play Store and present your ID. Registration takes place at all Play stores, Ruch kiosks and post offices (see map).

    Top-up vouchers are available at gas stations, supermarkets and most other places, starting from PLN 5 to PLN 150. To check your balance, dial *101#.

    You can also download the Play24 app for iOS and Android to manage your account and check your balance.

    Play na Kartę is a standard line of prepaid products available for PLN 5 in a starter pack. You can switch from any tariff to this line by dialing *163*6#. The card is valid for 10 days. Default data: PLN 1.20 per MB.

    Top-ups from PLN 5 are valid for 5 days, up to PLN 100 for 150 days. They do not include bonus data and a data package must be added (see below).

    Play on Kartę Lubię to!

    This product line can be used with the same starter pack. This tariff must be activated/changed by dialing *163*7# and the card is active for 10 days with high speed data up to 250 Mb to start. Internet is free and unlimited by default, but is limited to slow speeds up to 32 Kbps. In order to extend the validity period, you need to fund your account to provide a data bonus. For each top up:
    up to PLN 9, get a bonus of 50 MB and 5 days validity period
    up to PLN 24, get a 200 MB bonus and a 10-day validity period
    up to PLN 49, get a 500 MB bonus and a 30 day validity period
    up to PLN 99, get a bonus of 1.5 GB and 100 days validity period
    PLN 100 or more, get 3.5 GB bonus and 150 days validity period

    To get higher speed data, you need to add a package (see below).

    Characteristics of data packets

    The following monthly data packages work with Play na Kartę and Play na Kartę Lubię to!:
    600 MB for PLN 5 - activation: *111*541*1#
    2 GB for PLN 9 - activation: *111*542*1#
    6 GB for PLN 20 - activation: *111*543*1#

    All packages auto-renew and provide a 100 MB bonus upon renewal. To stop the package, you must enter the activation code, replacing the last digit from 1 to 2. To check the use of the data package, you must enter the activation code, replacing the last digit with *3.

    This plan caused a revolution in the Polish market when it was introduced in the spring of 2017. The starter pack is available for PLN 5 without add-ons. All top-ups remain valid indefinitely if the top-up is made once a year. You can switch to this plan by dialing *163*20#.

    All packages will also remain valid "forever" until they are used up. You can add call packages and the following two data packages:
    1 GB forever for PLN 5 - activation: *111*842*1#
    6 GB forever for PLN 25 - activation: *111*843*1#

    To check the balance dial *180#. Packages are more expensive than other plans, but don't run out. The charge for overuse is PLN 0.02 per MB. There is a fee of PLN 2 in months without any use.

    Play Internet on Kartę

    Remember that Play Internet na Kartę users only have access to their own Play network, unlike other tariffs, and there is no national roaming in this plan (see above). Their Play Internet na Kartę line has the cheapest domestic data with slightly higher call and text rates. The default data rate remains very low at PLN 0.02 per MB. This prepaid line cannot be changed by other plans.

    It comes in different starter packs with an add-on to get started, with just a SIM card or with a key:
    free: Wypróbuj 4G LTE Ultra with 500 MB for 3 days
    PLN 9: 3 GB starter pack with 3 GB add-on valid for 7 days
    PLN 19: 30 GB starter pack with 30 GB add-on valid for 7 days
    PLN 50: 25 GB starter pack with 3 GB add-on valid for 1 month + 11 times 2 GB per month
    PLN 89 starter pack 30 GB + Huawei E3131 3G
    PLN 159 starter pack 30 GB + Huawei E3372h 4G
    PLN 219 starter pack 3 GB + Huawei E5573 4G WI-FI

    The default data transfer rate is very low at PLN 0.01 per MB. To add more data, you need to top up your account with the following amounts, which go over to the data:

    Top-up Volume Validity period
    PLN 5-9 500 MB 5 days
    PLN 10-19 3 GB 7 days
    PLN 20-29 6 GB 14 days
    PLN 30-49 9 GB 30 days
    PLN 50-74 15 GB 60 days
    PLN 75-99 30 GB 90 days
    PLN 100 50 GB 120 days

    In addition, the so-called "unlimited internet packages" can only be booked on the Play Internet na Kart only tariff line:
    "unlimited" internet during the day (= 24 hours) FUP = 10 GB: PLN 5, activation: *111*791*1#
    "unlimited" internet for a week (= 7 days) FUP = 30 GB: PLN 20, activation: *111*789*1#
    "unlimited" internet for a month (= 30 days) FUP = 100 GB: PLN 49, activation: *111*783*1#

    All these "unlimited" add-ons are automatically updated and can be stopped by changing the last digit of the activation code from 1 to 2. "Unlimited" is limited by FUP, which reduces the data transfer rate when the limit is exceeded to 1 Mbps.

    EU roaming surcharge

    Play in Poland is exempt from "roam like at home" and does not allocate EU roaming data at domestic rates, but from 15 June 2017 charges an additional fee of PLN 0.09 per MB (= PLN 90 per GB) on all their new plans and reduced packages will be offered.
